Question by ron b: why live acoustic country sounds brighter than any acoustic I’ve ever owned….?
I’ve seen Ty Herndon and many other country stars live doing acoustic performances… just them singing, while a Nashville “intern” of sorts, sits next to them and plays acoustic guitar. Every single time, the sound coming from the acoustic guitar, is so bright and beautiful and almost has a “wind chime” quality to it. I know how to tune a guitar and have owned 3 acoustics that retail for over $ 2000 each, so quality shouldn’t be an issue.Is there a secret tuning that Nashville stars keep hidden? lol Every single time I see a live acoustic performance… I fall in love with the guitar sound… but, maybe it’s how high the amp is set to project through bigger venues? I’m lost! Thanks (by the way, youtube has a vid of James Otto doing “where angels hang around” in new jersey… fine example)
I apologize, been a while since I’ve watched that vid, but he may have a telecaster.But that is the sound I’m talking about… I’ve heard the same sound come from acoustic guitars

I’m not a country guitarist, so there may be some other factors that I’m unaware of.

I would suggest that there is some reverb added, a hint of reverb adds magic to accoustic guitar and vocals.
