Agree or disagree with the following statment:”In spite of the melancholy mood of these three songs, they show that Shakspeare loved life.”Use imagery, word choice, and figures of speech from teh song to help justify your view.
POEMS:
Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind
Blow, blow, thou winter wind
Thou art not so unkind
As man’s ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
That does not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As a friend remembered not.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
Fear No More the Heat o’ the Sunby William Shakespeare
GUIDERIUS. Feare no more the heate o’ th’ Sun,
Nor the furious Winters rages,
Thou thy worldly task hast don,
Home art gon, and tane thy wages.
Golden Lads, and Girles all must,
As Chimney-Sweepers come to dust.
ARVIRAGUS. Feare no more the frowne o’ th’ Great,
Thou art past the Tirants stroake,
Care no more to cloath and eate,
To thee the Reede is as the Oake:
The Scepter, Learning, Physicke must,
All follow this and come to dust.
GUIDERIUS. Feare no more the Lightning flash.
ARVIRAGUS. Nor th’ all-dreaded Thunderstone.
GUIDERIUS. Feare not Slander, Censure rash.
ARVIRAGUS. Thou hast finish’d Ioy and mone.
BOTH. All Louers young all Louers must,
Consigne to thee and come to dust.
GUIDERIUS. No Exorcisor harme thee,
ARVIRAGUS. Nor no witch-craft charme thee.
GUIDERIUS. Ghost vnlaid forbeare thee.
ARVIRAGUS. Nothing ill come neere thee.
BOTH. Quiet consumation haue,
And renowned be thy graue.
Full fathom five thy father lies;
Of his bones are coral made;
Those are pearls that were his eyes:
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange.
Sea-nymphs hourly ring his knell:
Ding-dong.
Hark! now I hear them,–ding-dong, bell.
